On love

Love is a wonderful thing. Love starts with a collection of nerve centers and receptors that make our hearts full and our eyes twinkle. Most of all it is a powerful change agent of human behavior. There are many kinds of love and many people to love. We love our families, we love our friends, we love our work, we love sports and we love people who demonstrate great valor, sacrifice or selfless dedication to social causes. I recently lost a friend and colleague to cancer. He had touched a lot of people in his life and they were all there to pay their respects at his funeral. His son told the story of his father's love for a Porsche sports car. All his life he had wanted one but the timing had never been right. Either it was money or it was constant travel.  He finally bought one two months ago but was hospitalized shortly afterwards. Valentine's day celebrates romantic love but reminds us of it's importance as the cornerstone of living itself. Use it as a reminder to demonstrate your love and passion for the people and things that are important in your life. Most importantly don't postpone your dreams. Too many things in life are finite.

My opinion of love is a bit different. People tend to idolize love, when what they should do is respect it.
Love is a force of nature, like a storm. It can either help you, or it can destroy you.

Probably the most dangerous thing most of us will ever do in our lives is turn to another and sincerely declare: "I love you". Because, when you do that, you give that other person power. And as we all should know, power corrupts.
