Here I am holding out a flexible, expertly-woven leather baton. At its core is a flexible metal rod, which adds several degrees of ferocity to this tool. It is a very intense piece of punishment equipment. I've never (yet) used it full force. Usually, a light to medium-force thomp from this piece leaves a powerful impression on the submissive--the powerful impression that he doesn't want to feel it again.
You can tell that I am handling this piece with respect. It inspires respect for its beautiful craftsmanship and design. In addition to its aesthetic qualities, I also have a special affection for implements that can be dangerous. Even though I always use them safely, the fact that they could cause real damage should I choose to surrender completely to sadistic urges excites me.
Below are more striking implements, lettered to help me explain what each one is.
Beginning with A, you see rods and canes made of synthetic materials, mostly fiberglass.

The B group comprises hairbrushes. These spanking standards are remarkably diabolical. There is a red ping-pong paddle peeking from under the brushes. The one hanging by itself to the right in this set is hand-carved (by Will) and sandpapered on the paddle surface for extra meanness. The ones marked C are leather. The top one is a split paddle (also sometimes called a tawse). The long one under it has a thin sheet of metal for re-enforcement under the tough leather exterior. |
D is one of our prize bargains. Will unearthed it at the back of a junk shelf at a local thrift store. It is one of two authentic sorority paddles we bought for a song, both signed and dated by the little co-eds who once were spanked by them. We gave the second paddle to Jon Jacobs as a birthday gift.
E shows two drilled paddles. The reason one drills holes in wood paddles is to improve air-flow. If you've ever used a wood paddle, you know that you are fighting air resistence when you bring its wide surface down. With the holes, the dominant's job is easier, and the paddle lands with a sharp, resounding wallop.
F shows two long striking implements, one rare and one all-too common. The black thing is the average, run-of-the-mill cheapie bullwhip. The rare one--with the red handle--is a sjambok, a heavy-duty weapon used by South African police for riot control. Trust me: there is no rioting in the dungeon when people see that menacing thing hanging there. It is difficult for me to control, because it's several feet longer than I am and quite heavy. Still, there's no harm using it as best I can...at least not to me. (The shaft, by the way, is solid-core rubber. I've heard that in the old days, the SA police used one made of rhino penis. How inter-specially homoerotic!)
The G group are all things you've seen either at adult toy shops or in tack stores: a range of crops, quirts, and county bats.

This is a close up of my canes (a slapper paddle and a county bat are peeking out too). The top row are various natural canes cut down by us along life's twisted highway. The bottom set are the finished products you see in BDSM catalogues, with thin leather strips wrapped around one end to form a comfortable handle.
